Perspective

Whether I feel that my children have too many clothes or not enough clothes all depends on which day of the week it is:  Laundry day or the day before.

We were so busy recently between Ready! for kindergarten, soccer, mutual, a football game, cousin sleepovers, and a carpet job, that the laundry got washed, but never folded.  Only when I went to wash the next week's laundry did I realize the mound I had ahead of me.

I am so grateful for this mound of laundry, because it means I have a wonderful husband and three sweet little people to keep me on my toes all day.  I have a blessed life.

Hayden Turns 5

My big boy had a birthday on Sunday.  We has been waiting for his birthday for a LONG time.  He is the last birthday in the calendar year of the 3 kids, so he has been especially anxious the last couple of months.

Conference was this weekend, so we were at Grandma Jensen's house for the party.  Hayden requested breakfast burritos and a cake from Grandma Jensen.  Cousin Karston's birthday is the day before so they celebrated together.

Thoughts on Hayden at 5:

  • LOVES Legos.  It is pretty much all he asks for, and the toy that dominates his play time.
  • Thrives when you acknowledge the good he does
  • Is a great eater.  I can convince him to eat nearly anything.
  • Is turning into our funny man
  • Constantly in "deep thinking mode" about something
  • Remembers everything.  He randomly brings up things about when he was 2 or 3 with great detail and accuracy.

The kids went to the doctor together for their yearly well-child checks.  Both 90-95% for height and 50-75% for weight.  I notice frequently how their bodies are becoming more lean and long.
