Someday...

Things that would be nice someday(either in the near or far future)...

• a tub big enough to soak in comfortably
• a jogging stroller
• some nice running shoes
• my baby sleeping in his own room (we live in a 1 bedroom apt.)
• total recovery from labor and delivery
• having a steady income (it is so hard to budget right now...my goal is just not to spend all of our money before we get more)
• having more kids (this is not near future, just so you know)
• a garbage disposal
• a schedule for when Dax will be home each day
• writing a book
• a bigger vehicle (we realized how easy putting a baby in a car can be when we had Dax's parent's van)
• running a half marathon
• beating Dax in chess (I've only done it once...our first time playing and in 3 moves...obviously I didn't know what I was doing, but it was GREAT)
• living somewhere where there are more warm months than cold months
• Dax patenting a big idea
• going on a vacation outside the continental U.S. (I'm thinking Hawaii or Australia, but I'm not too picky as long as it's warm)
• feeling comfortable wearing a swimsuit without a skirt or shorts
• really knowing how to sew and being good at it
• ...and a few other things that I can't think of right now

Recovery Times 3

We are all recovering around our house...

I took Hayden into the doctor and they gave me an antibiotic which I started to give him. He probably spits up the medicine every other time I give it to him so I don't even know if it is doing him any good, but it has given him diarrhea. The actual diarrhea doesn't seem to bother him, but he now has a nasty rash that he hates to have touched...poor boy. This medicine better take his cough away or I will not be one happy mama. However, Hayden handles it all like a champ just as always. He is so close to rolling over from his back to his stomach...he just has to figure out how to get his arm out of the way. Every time I put him down he starts trying to roll over right away. I don't think he's as close to rolling over from his back to his stomach though.

Dax hurt his back playing basketball a while ago and it just hasn't gotten better. He has started going to the chiropractor so hopefully he'll get it all taken care of. Either way, he uses it as a pretty good excuse to get a back massage every now and then. :) Dax is enjoying basketball (even though his practice is a 6 in the morning) and has his first game his Saturday at 2. He's hoping that he gets some good playing time.

I'm recovering from having a baby all over again. I went in the other day and had my stitches cut open and re sutured because they didn't heal right the first time. I had more trepidation going in for this procedure than I did for labor and delivery. At least there was a baby at the end of all of that! I hate needles and knives coming into contact with my body (one of the reasons I didn't want an epidural), and I also hate the feel of the thread being pulled through my skin. Dax was gracious enough to come with me, and I appreciated the support. Anyway, for some reason the stitches hurt more this time around. Unless I'm laying down I feel like there is pressure on the stitches that makes them hurt, even with great pain medicine. Hopefully this time around things heal right and I'm able to fully recover. However, I am enjoying my water aerobics class and staying home with Hayden nearly all the time!

We're all still in good spirits...here's to a great recovery for all of us!

What's New

Well honestly we don't have a lot of exciting news to share. School started so we're getting back into the swing of things. I'm only taking 6 credits this semester which will be so nice! I'm only gone for an hour on Monday and Wednesday mornings for a water aerobics class while Hayden is still asleep (usually). Then I have a 3 hour afternoon class on Thursdays. The other class is an online family class that Dax and I are taking together. It is SO nice to be home all day! Hayden grows and changes so much each day and I can't imagine being gone and missing it. Today he and I started making sounds to each other and we both ended up laughing for 5 entire minutes...he's never laughed that long before! I can't remember the last time my mouth hurt because I was smiling so much. It was so fun. On the downside Hayden has been sick. He caught a cold while we were in Washington and he just has not gotten over his cough. He mainly coughs at night, but he gets into these coughing fits and I worry about him being able to breathe. If it's not better in a couple of more days (he's already had it almost 2 weeks) then I'm going to call the pediatrician. He is still so happy though, and he contributes so much to our happiness.

In other news...Dax is going to play competitive basketball this semester. We figured it's our last semester and he'd probably never get a chance to play like this again so he might as well take advantage of it. I'm excited for him. Something I'm not so excited about is that Dax is going home to Washington this weekend (weather permitting) alone. We brought his parent's van back to school because there was no way we would have been able to fit our Christmas stuff into the car...it was full on the way to Washington. So since it's a 3 day weekend he is going to go home and trade back. Hayden and I have never had to spend a night alone so I'm not too thrilled about it, but taking Hayden all the way to Washington to stay a day and come back is not something I'm thrilled about either. We'll see how it goes.

3 Weeks of Fun and 3 Months Old

We had so much fun over Christmas break with our families. We spent the first week home with my family and then we went to Dax's parents and spent almost two weeks. My family got to go to Utah because my brother Paul came home from his mission (I'm so excited to see him!! If ever two siblings were two peas in a pod it was me and Paul). All of Dax's family was home (plus his brother-in-law's parents) so it was a full house, but lots of fun. Some of our many activities were: watching movies, swimming, going out to eat, inner tubing on the snow, a ward Christmas party, basketball (mainly for Dax), hanging out, attending a bridal shower, wedding, and reception, and watching more movies. We were glad to be home and see everyone.

While we stayed with Dax's family I fed Hayden in our room during the night because every room in the house was full (I usually leave so he can get some sleep...there's no need for both of us to be sleep deprived). I think he gained an appreciation for the effort it takes to be up and not get enough sleep! :)

Although we loved being home we are so glad to be back in Rexburg. It seemed like the longer we were home the worse Hayden slept, waking up a couple of times a night. It was so nice to come home last night and have him sleep 8 hours again! He definitely knows this place, he was happier and more talkative when we got home than he's been the whole break (not that he wasn't a pleasant baby though).

Hayden will be 3 months old tomorrow, and he is getting so big! I finally had to put away all the clothes he's been wearing and upgrade to bigger sizes. He doesn't go to the doctor again until February, and I can hardly wait to see how much he's grown. He is more and more fun all the time. We discovered that he is ticklish in his ribs and is it so fun to make him laugh. He HATES tummy time, which makes it hard to really keep him on his stomach for more than just a couple of minutes because he just screams. He is nearly always wide-eyed and loves to look around and see what is out there. He also discovered his hands! He loves to suck his fingers, and I frequently remove them and replace them with a pacifier. However, I think there isn't anything I can do, he'll probably be a finger sucker. We love him so much and are so grateful that he is a part of our family.

Mrs. Haley Bergeson

Dax's sister Haley was sealed in the Columbia River Temple on December 27th to Severin Bergeson. We were so glad to be there and Haley was such a beautiful bride. Here are some of the pictures from our camera of the reception in Basin City. I'm sure the ones of the whole family are wonderful, but we didn't have someone there to take a picture with our camera when Dax and I were both in the picture.

No Coal For Us!

Hayden has been such a good boy that Santa Claus (aka his grandpa Jensen) paid him an early visit! For Christmas Hayden got some clothes, swimming trunks, and a bumbo. We are excited for his head to be just a little bit more steady so that he can sit in the bumbo!

Dax got me a sewing machine for Christmas!!! We both got some new shoes, end tables, pillows, a vacuum, and food storage. We are so grateful for all that we received from those we love. We are especially grateful for the atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ and for the season set apart to celebrate His birth.
