We have been ultra busy lately, but luckily it doesn't last forever. Now I just have lots of catching up to do around the house...seems like I am always trying to chase that elusive state we call 'being caught up.' Oh well.
Taylee got really sick starting Sunday the 3rd and was sick all week with a fever, hoarse throat, cough, and congestion.
On March 6th my youngest sibling came home from his mission in Houston, TX. We went to IHOP afterward to celebrate. It was my Dad's birthday as well.
Friday March 8th was my big Relief Society birthday activity. I have no committee, so I plan and carry out an activity every month by myself, which isn't always too hard, but the big activities always stress me just a little. We did chicken burritos and had cake and ice cream. We also played an LDS version of family feud (I had personally surveyed and compiled 60 questionnaires for this game...that alone took at least 20 hours). Luckily it was a ton of fun so it was worth the effort.
Saturday the 9th we had a surprise birthday party for Dax's youngest sister Laryn who is turning 20. It was fun to have an adult dinner. We told a lot of un-truths (aka lies) to keep it a secret. We are still trying to explain how you can justify lying for a "good cause."
Sunday the 10th was Matthew's homecoming in my parent's ward. It was a packed house with our family and then a couple from my parent's ward was having their farewell the same day so the chapel was packed. The kids sang "We'll Bring the World His Truth." After our primary program I was interested to see what Hayden would do when it came time to perform. Right as they were supposed to go up he said that he didn't want to go. My heart sank, but I encouraged him one last time to go and with a big sigh he did. He was positioned in the middle, and right before the song he pulled the microphone right to his lips. He sang. Loudly. In fact, it was like a pop star with backup. While I was a little embarrassed that he was taking the lime light, I was really proud that he had the courage to go up and sing. They sang all 3 verses, and after the song was over Hayden was about to hop off the stool, then turned back to the microphone and let out a HUGE sigh into it. Even I had to laugh at that point. Matt gave a good report.
Kyra got sick Sunday night with what Taylee had and was sick for the next several days with a fever, cough, and hoarse throat.
Tuesday the 12th I taught Ready! for Kindergarten in Othello (45 min away) in the evening. I met Dax at the door, gave him a kiss and left him with 3 kids. It was a trend for the week.
Wednesday I had dress rehearsal (I was an MC) for the Distinguished Young Women program (formerly Junior Miss), and once again left Dax with 3 kids.
Thursday was another dress rehearsal, so we packed up and stayed at my parent's house for a couple of days.
Friday I got to go walking with 2 of my sisters, Kimberly and Nicole, which was so nice. Friday was also the Distinguished Young Women program. It was fun to be a part of Othello's newly re-established program. It was the first one they have had since I was Junior Miss in 2004. Dax had never seen me do anything like Junior Miss so I was glad he was there that night.
Saturday I taught Ready! for Kindergarten in the morning, and then we spent the afternoon with family. We got to spend the weekend with my sister Kimberly and her kids and my sister Nicole, both of whom live in Utah. Krystal and her family and Ben and his family were also at my parents. With my family, Shandiin's, and David's families and Matthew we had a full house and 8 of my parent's children there!
Right before all of the craziness we got 4 chickens! We are getting 4 more at the beginning of April, and I am wishing that I had got them all at the same time so we could be done with chicks...
It was a good couple of weeks, but it was too busy and I am glad it is over. Now on to a semi-clean house!
