Princess for the Night

Kyra got to go to a daddy daughter ball a few weekends ago and was in HEAVEN.  It was all she asked about the week before the ball.  Now, when she hears the words Saturday, princess, carriage, or ball, she is quick to reference her "princess ball."

We did her hair and nails and borrowed a fancy dress for her to wear.  She got to take a purse with lip gloss, gum, and a camera. 

The ball lived up to her expectations.  She danced the evening away with her prince (daddy), got to ride in a real pumpkin carriage, and was announced at the ball and given a crown.  It was $35 well spent.

Halloween was so fun this year.  The kids are beginning to really grasp the idea of holidays and it makes me feel like a kid all over again.

A book about two friends who wanted to be a pumpkin for Halloween convinced Kyra she wanted to be a pumpkin.  Luckily I could convince her otherwise.  Aunt Haley let us borrow a costume so our cowgirl could have a cow.  Hayden wanted to be a dragon, but an alligator was as close as we could get.  I came to the realization that, in general, my kids are pretty easy going.

We did the traditional pumpkin shaped pancakes for breakfast, and ghost and pumpkin shaped pizza for dinner with ghost shakes.

After telling Hayden about the Switch Witch, his goal was to get as much Halloween candy as he could to trade for more money.  He traded everything but a few pieces and she gave him $4.  Kyra much more reluctantly traded with the witch for $3.  The witch's naughty cat will have a BIG tummy ache after all of that candy, the kids got tons--including 5 full size candy bars each.
