Dog Days of Summer

"Dog Days" (Latin: diēs caniculārēs) are the hottest, most sultry days of summer. In the Northern Hemisphere, the dog days of summer are most commonly experienced in the months of July and August, which typically observe the warmest summer temperatures. -wikipedia

We are definitely in the dog days of summer around here.  It has been upper 90s pushing over into the 100s the last couple of days.  We eat lots of popsicles, play in the water, and stay in the shade when we can.  The heat is doing great things for the garden though.

I guess the kids falling asleep in strange places is a good indicator that we are in the dog days of summer.

Hayden was mowing the lawn with Dax and started to fall asleep so Dax dropped him off in the shade. 

 Kyra just doesn't stay in her crib, but I lock her in during nap time, so she fell asleep on the floor.  I love her foot up on the ottoman.

The only good picture I got on the 4th of July.  We enjoyed our ward breakfast before heading to Basin City for the parade there.  We spent the rest of the afternoon at Dax's parents' house with the extended family.  We ended the day watching the fireworks in Othello.  Hayden was so tired we couldn't even wake him up when the show started.  It was a fun, exhausting day.

 Every other picture is some variation of them fighting over the candy.  A salt water taffy?  Ugh...at least fight over a candy worth eating!

We are starting to enjoy the fruits of our labors.  We harvested the cherry tree, and get a bowl of strawberries every couple of days.  We picked the first couple of zucchini the other day too!
